REVIEWS: A Pale Debilitating Autumn

Voices From The Darkside (GER)

I had to sit back, calm down and divert my thoughts not to come up with any possible superlatives for this review here, but it's still a tough one, cause I'm SO FUCKING IMPRESSED!! I mean, it never was a secret that Leif and I admired the work of the German five-piece PAVOR quite heavily and we already gave them lots of exposure, but this first self-finaced full-length album is just like a slap in the face for every so-called death metal label out there, cause PAVOR have come up with one of the most brutal, most honest and most dedicated PURE DEATH METAL albums for a really long time! And I totally support their slogan that is printed in their booklet: "To all wimps, dilettantes, children, fakes and other lowlifes out there that try to be evil and brutal: STAY AT HOME AND PRACTISE!!" If that sounds bragging to you, you should listen to the 8 trax on A PALE DEBILITATING AUTUMN and figure out for yourselves that these guys know what they are talking about and that they are allowed to talk that way, cause all of them are superb musicians! There's 3 (out of 5) demo tunes on the new album and the rest is new (?) material which ain't less brutal than the already known stuff. And PAVOR don't incorporate any other influences in their material (although I noticed some weird bass lines in the titletrack) to make their songs more special or unique.. They are out for perfect musicianship and straight ahead aggression! Death Metal can still be so intense and even the vocals and production will leave your mouth wide open! B.R.U.T.A.L. !!!! The overall packaging is far more professional than the usual self-financed albums, yeah it can even stand the competition with established labels. And if quality will still impress people, Imperator Music could be one of the most important labels to come, so watch out for it!!! So, before this is going to be the longest review ever, I will finish here with the advice to get yourself a copy of PAVOR's debut if you consider yourself as a fan of the most brutal form of pure death metal!
